We are dedicated to providing you with the highest quality plants and we take pride in our Australian Made pots and labels, which are made from recycled materials and can be recycled.
You can easily identify our plants when you see our Southern Plants™ logo on the labels, a guarantee of quality and sustainability.
And with our labels, we have made it easy for you to choose the right plant for your garden without having to sift through a lot of information. By using different colours for each range, we make it easy for you to quickly identify which plants are suitable for your specific needs. They also feature helpful icons on the left side that indicate the plant's sunlight and water requirements, as well as its expected size when fully grown.
A Commitment to Sustainability
Sustainability is a key focus for us in everything we do. We have invested in our own Solar production and 100% renewable Electricity. Our pots and labels are made from 100% recycled plastic and are also recyclable.
Since day one, Southern Plants has been pro-active and planned our business in a sustainable manner, with sustainable growing practices of Natural sunlight and heat, recycled water, renewable energy, controlled release fertilizers in composted plantation grown pine bark.
About Us
Southern Plants™ (SAP) is one of the largest wholesale production nurseries in Australia.
We grow outstanding retail quality flowering plants, shrubs, grasses and succulents in pot sizes of 140mm, 180mm and 200mm pots. We have a strong emphasis in growing Native Australian plants and Drought Tolerant Hardy plants.
SAP has been around for more than 75 years. The nursery now, situated on 92 acres (38 hectares), in Dromana. Southern Plants™ originally started as Instant Gardens Nursery and was as a division of Gardenworld in Springvale Road, Keysborough.
At Southern Plants™, we are not just a wholesale production nursery. We are a team of passionate individuals who are dedicated to providing high-quality plants, promoting sustainable gardening practices, and creating a positive impact in our community and environment. We are proud of our rich history and look forward to continuing to provide exceptional plants and service for many years to come.
Formally known as Southern Advanced Plants, we changed our name in 2021 to Southern Plants™ to better represent the diverse range of plants that the company grows and to unite their well-known plant ranges under one brand.
Our new logo, with a tree sprouting from the name Southern Plants, holds a deeper significance than just a simple image. The roots of the tree symbolize our strong foundation and legacy in the industry, while the tree itself represents our continuous growth and evolution.
But the true beauty of our logo lies within the details, nature thriving within the tree, further highlights our commitment to nature and sustainability.
Furthermore, the inclusion of a ladybug, a common sight at our former location at Gardenworld, pays homage to our humble beginnings and serves as a reminder of our journey. The honeyeater, represents one of our first ranges: Nature's Nectar®. . And if you look closely, you will notice that the flowers within the tree form the iconic Southern Cross, showing our pride in being an Australian-owned and operated business.
